Marine South East

Marine South East is a non-profit organization which helps marine businesses in South East England to respond to the ever-changing environment in which they operate.  It prides itself on tackling critical issues affecting marine businesses in the region and aims to increase productivity through promoting innovation, helping to develop skills for the marine sector, encouraging the development of international trade opportunities and raising the overall profile of the marine industry.

We have been actively involved in promoting the opportunities presented by Offshore Wind Farms for more than two years by engaging with developers and turbine manufacturers and working with them to ensure that the supply chain opportunities are understood and that people are in a position to apply for the jobs that will be created by the industry as they become available.

The opportunity for Kent to benefit from the Offshore Wind Farm Industry should not be underestimated there will be a capital outlay of £4-5 billion for the three licensed windfarms and operations and maintenance costs are likely to exceed £110 million per annum plus there is the potential of additional licences being granted by The Crown Estates in the area as part of Round 2.5.

The need to develop new products and services to improve the efficiency of the turbines and associated equipment is essential as more and more emphasis is placed on the need to move away from fossil fuels and Marine South East will help in any way it can to encourage innovation.
